Autodidact, he started his research on movement in 1987, and has since been developing a scenic language with a particular and experimental features.
In 1990, upon three years of study and investigation, he started his artistic career, and found in performing arts the ideal platform for the exhibition of the experiments and outcomes of his research. Along this decade, he fully committed himself to the study and structuring of his working method, performing sporadically within the artistic circuitry of São Paulo city. Among the most significant ones, his participation in three editions (1990, 1991 and 1997) of the event “Movimentos Sesc de Dança” held at Teatro Anchieta, at Sesc Consolação.
In 1999, he moved to London and stayed there for one year, having his work selected to participate in two distinct events: the "8th Festival of Cutting Edge Dance Theatre - Mosaics 99", hosted by Sadler’s Wells in collaboration with the Jackson’s Lane Dancebase; and "Resolution! 2000", hosted by The Place Theatre.
Returning to Brazil in 2000, he resumed his research activities, more strongly focused on the production and performance of his works. Soon after he was invited for the opening of the Centro Cultural Banco do Brasil in São Paulo, having participated in the first edition of the event “Dança em Pauta”.
In 2001 he started working in collaboration with his brother Gustavo Ramos, himself also an artist and researcher, who works in the areas of visual arts, performance, music and technology. From this association came the idea of founding the D.A.M. (Desenvolvimento Anímico do Movimento - Animic Development of the Movement), which acronym represents the name of the method that has been developed along these years.
In 2002 he was invited by the educational division of the Museu de Arte Moderna de São Paulo (MAM) to develop activities that could dialog with the “Paralelos” exhibition. On that occasion, two works were created to be presented in the exhibition space of the museum along the whole duration of the exhibition.
In the following years, due to the hybrid nature of its language, the D.A.M. presented its works in many events and locations related to contemporary dance and visual arts, such as: Mostra Internacional Sesc de Dança, Bienal Sesc de Dança, Dança Brasil, Corpoinstalação, Galeria Vermelho, Festival da Fábrica in Portugal, Festival de Dança do Recife, Bienal Internacional de Dança do Ceará, Festival Panorama de Dança, Bienal de Arte e Tecnologia Emoção Art.ficial 3.0, FAQ2 Sincretismo dos Sentidos, Mostra Rumos Itaú Cultural Dança, Riocenacontemporânea, among others.
In 2007 he was granted the “Programa Petrobras Cultural”, receiving sponsorship for his research and production activities.
In 2008 D.A.M. expanded its activities overseas, presenting two works of its repertoire within the program of Kaaitheater, in Belgium, and in 2009 it participated in the Artistic Residence Program of Pact Zollverein, in Germany.
Autodidact and multidisciplinary, he works in the areas of visual arts, performance, music and technology. His research aims at a common structure among several artistic fields, their connection mechanisms and the study of the dynamic and plastic nature of the sound.
His first experiments in the field of visual arts occurred in 1991, through a series of drawings of both small and big dimensions, which evolved into the practice of painting and sculpture in various materials. At the same time, he started the development of a plastic research aimed at the visualization of images of flow structures.
In 1996 he started his studies related to the development of the possibilities of creation applied to sound. At first using acoustic music and later also working with the composition of experimental electronic music, for the investigation of sound manipulation taking into account the creation of states and contents integrated to spatial and visual aspects.
In 1997 he started his activities as a performer, as well as his explorations in the areas of photography, graphic and digital design.
In 2001, with the foundation of D.A.M., he started working in collaboration with his brother, Roberto Ramos. Through this initiative, they decided to join their individual researches in order to elaborate a joint project focused on the development of experiencing techniques and on the conceptualization of an own method of creation and research.
He is also responsible for the creation of the soundtrack of all works performed by D.A.M., and ever since its foundation he has participated as a performer.
