Roberto Ramos has been taking part in the Brazilian contemporary dance scene, developing during the last years a scenic language of innovative and experimental features. This self-taught artist develops his research by observing specific kinetic situations concerning space, time and gravity, and his main focus is the construction and sensorial perception of movement. His works emerge from extremely simple ideas, and are conceived to function as interactive dynamic systems in which all elements converge in an own logic, which defines its working direction, and consequently, the action of the performers. The work performed in cooperation with his brother Gustavo Ramos, also an artist and researcher, resulted in the initiative of founding the D.A.M. - Animic Development of Movement. The acronym, that has named the technique since the beginning, also defines itself as a unique project of research, whose fundamental target is to investigate the essence of movement through its several manifestations and circumstances. Due to the hybrid nature of its language, the D.A.M. has been performing in the most diverse events and places related to contemporary dance and visual arts, as for instance, Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo, The Place Theatre in London, and Kaaitheater in Brussels. In August 2008, sponsored by Petrobras, the members of the group start theirs activities to produce a new spectacle.
